Parging

Similar to stucco and stucco repair, parging is a finishing process applied to enhance the appearance of your home’s exterior. Parging uses a masonry-based mortar rather than a stucco mixture. This coating is typically applied above surface-grade concrete foundations. Like Edmonton stucco, parging is an excellent way to create an aesthetic appeal to cover any surface imperfections in a concrete or concrete-block surface. The process can be completed on new or existing walls and various types of surfaces. Common places for parging include foundations, columns, vertical surfaces, walls, bricks, stones, and concrete. Parging remains an economical solution to aesthetically improving a variety of masonry surfaces.

Restorative and Reliable Parging Repair

Parging typically follows a factory formula. The composition is called a Type N Mortar, composed of Portland cement and sand, which comes in various pre-coloured mixes.

Acrylic Coating is a multi-coat system. An initial base coat is composed of a combination of Portland Cement, liquid acrylic, and fibreglass armature. A finish coat consisting of 100% acrylic paste is then applied with a hand trowel. Acrylic coats are available in a wide range of colours with varying options for texture; these coatings typically result in a high-quality finish with excellent adhesion, durability, flexibility, and water-resistant qualities. Parging is ideal for Edmonton, where weather conditions can be harsh and de-icing salts are commonly used. Parging is typically more expensive than cement mixes, but the vast benefits outweigh the costs: Saving you money in the long run.
